This is why you see so many articles dedicated to giving advice on the best habits to adapt. There are several that are universally applicable for most of us.
When you keep at certain habits over time, you shall achieve success in whatever your goal was. There is every reason to believe that the kind of habits you have mattered so much more than you realize. You are therefore bound to end up in a bad place if you keep at bad habits, and a good place if you have the good ones. A case in point is the kind of habits a runner should be focusing on, and what that means to their running performance. Here are several they should give up on if they expect to see any positive changes in their hobby.
Smoking is bad, even if you are not an athlete. It baffles the mind to imagine there was a time people thought it was healthy. It is amazing how a lack of research and proof can be so misleading. Smoking inhibits one’s ability to perform cardio, something critical to a runner. They shall unnecessarily overstrain their hearts and lungs if they keep smoking.
The same goes for excessive consumption of alcohol. There is nothing wrong with having some alcohol once in a while. Observing moderation is a great principle to live by. When you take too much of something, you will get into trouble. Alcohol impairs your body’s ability to recover and get stronger after training. There are also the empty calories no one needs in their body. When you feel like your drinking is getting harder for you to control, then you need to find a rehab center to help you handle it. You can check out this rehab center, to better understand the process. Alcohol tends to dehydrate you, which shall impair your performance significantly.
It is also a problem not getting enough sleep. When you get enough sleep, you allow your body to reset and repair itself, in anticipation for the training that shall come up the next day. You will also notice that as you run, a lack of enough sleep will make you keep tripping and falling unnecessarily. This leaves you vulnerable when you need not be in the slightest.
There is a lot of dedication and hard work needed to make sure that your body is always in a state that allows it to perform as excepted.
